Anthony Curiale

Anthony Curiale is the founder of our Offices. Mr. Curiale began his career in 1979, specializing in Criminal Defense and DUI. For the past 30 years, he has maintained his criminal practice, representing countless criminal clients for a broad range of crimes in Orange, Riverside, and Los Angeles Counties.

Since 1998, Mr. Curiale has added Civil Litigation to the areas of his expertise. On the Civil side of the law, Mr. Curiale has experience in Contract Disputes, Property Issues, and Business Formation, among other areas.

Much of Mr. Curiale’s current practice focuses on the ever-evolving of area Marijuana Law. His experience in this area of the law is truly vast, as he arrived on the Marijuana scene in its infancy, over 10 years ago.

Since then, Mr. Curiale has formed over 80 patients’ associations pursuant to Health & Safety Code section 11362.77. Mr. Curiale has also litigated numerous cases involving the Compassionate Use Act (CUA) and the Medical Marijuana Program Act (MMPA). Many of these cases have involved land use disputes, nuisance actions by local governments, as well as actions filed against city and county governments.

Mr. Curiale was lead counsel for Plaintiffs in the California Court of Appeal Case Qualified Patients Association v. City of Anaheim(2010) 187 Cal.App.4th 734. In that landmark case, the Court of Appeal held that Federal Law does not prohibit medical marijuana patients and/or patients associations from suing cities and counties for banning distribution of medical marijuana. Mr. Curiale's creative, dedicated, and strenuous advocacy helped shape the legal landscape of Medical Marijuana Law in California.

To Mr. Curiale, Medical Marijuana is more than a business – it’s a passion. Mr. Curiale is an active advocate for the rights of medical marijuana patients and caregivers to obtain marijuana for their illnesses.

An Orange County native, Mr. Curiale received his law degree from Western State and his undergraduate degree from UC Davis. Mr. Curiale is admitted to the California State Bar and the Federal Bar for the Central District of California. He is a member of the following organizations: The Orange County Bar Association, NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws), and Lex Romana among others. In his spare time, Mr. Curiale enjoys riding his motorcycle, cooking up a storm, and chatting in Italian to anyone who will listen.
